ACCS-EM:
Interview preparation course

In 2025, 880 interview slots were given for 357 training positions.

Your odds from the beginning are 40%. Even if some who get an interview instead pursue another speciality - it is an unfortunate truth that not everyone invited to interview gets a post.

I offer this course as the first step. It is sufficient to arm yourself with everything you need to know to maximise your chances of success.

I scored 49/50 for my interview.

I cannot help you with the MSRA.

But I can definitely help you with the interview.

(NB: I also offer 1:1 tuition to those who are interested)

What we cover:

Portfolio analysis

The first step in this course is an analysis of common portfolio talking points.

Here, we address what the common strengths are - and how to sell them.

And the common weaknesses are - and turn these into positives as well.

Current EM topics

It is inevitable that there will be a degree of discussion over the current pressures EM is facing.

Covering some of the latest discussions and issues, forewarned is forearmed.

Question dissection

Each question has multiple sub questions beneath it.

We will go through the common questions asked, assess what really lies in side of them, and therefore how you should approach this for success.

The eye does not see what the mind does not know. Once you know what is being asked - it will make much more sense.

It's all about the selling

It does not come naturally to us as medics to toot our own horn.

And yet, at the core of it - one must remember, this is a competitive process.

The examiner cannot give you marks if you do not sshout loudly about your skills and abilities.

You will be given examples of how to do this in an eloquent and natural manner

Answer reconstruction

There are tricks to answering certain questions.

Be it the structure in your head by which you hand your answer upon, or the words that you use.

We will cover what makes an effective and efficient response in such high-pressure situations.

Beating the clock

You have one shot.

20 minutes.

Roughly 4 minutes a question.

Trim the fat, keep the most salient, hard hitting and point-scoring headlines.

Explanations on how best to strategise, and utilise the time frame to put yourself front and foremost.

Make them remember you.
